Shine Speech Therapy and Social Language Center was founded by Heather Driggers M.S., CCC-SLP and Teresa Owens M.S., CCC-SLP, two experienced school-based speech-language pathologists (SLPs) with a shared passion for improving the academic and functional communication skills of children. Recognizing the critical need for high-quality speech therapy services in the Permian Basin, they created Shine Speech Therapy to provide specialized care for children in the region. Their mission is to empower children to communicate effectively and confidently, and to support their families in achieving their goals.
Teresa is a highly qualified professional, dually-certified as an audiologist and speech pathologist. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Science in Audiology from the University of North Texas, and a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Texas Woman's University. As the co-founder of Shine Speech Therapy and Social Language Center, Teresa brings her extensive experience and specialization to the team. With 35 years of experience in speech pathology, she has developed expertise in working with children with cleft lip/palate and phonological processes. She also has a passion for treating Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). Teresa is heavily involved with several community-based organizations which help to support children in the Permian Basin. When she is not volunteering, Teresa loves spending time with her two grandchildren! She also is an avid needle pointer!
Heather is an experienced speech-language pathologist who has devoted over 17 years to working with students in public schools with diverse communication needs. As the co-founder of Shine Speech Therapy and Social Language Center, Heather brings her expertise to bear on helping children with autism and social language deficits. She has a passion for supporting non-speaking children in developing language skills using both verbal and augmentative and alternative communication approaches. In addition to her specialization, Heather has extensive experience in leading social language groups, incorporating assistive technology into speech therapy sessions, and working with students who have behavioral challenges. Heather earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Texas Woman's University. Heather has been married to Cody for 26 years and they have two sons. In her free time, Heather reads every book she can get her hands on!
Emily is a skillful professional who recently earned her Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Texas Woman's University. With over seven years of experience as a licensed Speech Pathology Assistant in a school district, she has honed her skills and gained valuable insights into the field. Emily's commitment to her community runs deep, having spent most of her life in Odessa, except for the years she spent pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology/Audiology in Denton, TX. Her expertise lies in addressing delays and disorders in articulation as well as expressive and receptive language. In addition to her impressive credentials, Emily is a vibrant and dynamic personality who leads our in-house Sunshine Committee. We are thrilled to have her as part of the Shine team!
Dianna is an experienced and compassionate speech-language pathologist dedicated to helping both English- and Spanish-speaking children overcome communication challenges. With ten years of experience working with children ages 0-14 across the Permian Basin, Dianna has honed her skills in clinical, school, and home-based settings. Her patient-centered approach fosters confidence and independence in her clients. Dianna earned her Bachelor's degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from Texas Tech University in 2013. She subsequently pursued a Master's in Special Education with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis, also from Texas Tech, which she earned in 2017. In 2019, Dianna completed her Master's in Communication Disorders from Texas Woman's University. Combining her knowledge of ABA with her expertise in speech pathology, Dianna provides a well-rounded approach to therapy that is tailored to each client's unique needs. Her areas of specialty include articulation and early language. Dianna is committed to using the latest research and methods to help her clients achieve their goals. Dianna has a deep understanding of the importance of communication and its impact on quality of life and she is dedicated to providing exceptional care with compassion and excellence. She is an amazing asset to Shine!
Mica is a seasoned speech-language pathologist with over a decade of experience serving school-aged children with a wide range of speech and language concerns. Her expertise includes articulation, language, and stuttering. Mica earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2012. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Texas Woman's University in 2021. In addition to her professional pursuits, Mica enjoys traveling the world with her husband and "collecting" experiences. Her travels have broadened her perspective and enabled her to connect with clients from various cultural backgrounds, facilitating a more family-centered therapy approach. With a deep commitment to evidence-based practice, Mica stays up-to-date on the latest research and therapeutic techniques. Whether working collaboratively with other professionals or providing one-on-one therapy, Mica provides compassionate, individualized care that focuses on achieving measurable outcomes and we are thrilled to welcome her to Shine!
